Occurence: Tonight was the final night of this particular event.
Inside: Dancefloor for about 250 people surrounded by lounges, and 3 bars.
Cloak Room: $4 for standard size. $6 for larger items
Music: RnB, House mashup.
Crowd: Asian.
Entertainment: Modelling show. Tonight was the grand final where 8 of the most beautiful girls from previous rounds, strut it out for the $1000 grand prize.
Atmosphere: Dead. Pretty much the worst I’ve seen Havana at.

Bounce @ Slide bar - The podium
Walked by here last month and it looked alright – Asians and RnB blasting out from the doors. Promoters said it was a monthly event, so I decided to check it out next time it was on – finally tonight the night has arrived! I got on the guestlist and brang some friends – so here we go!
Bounce @ Slide Bar
Assessment Time: 10:30PM – 02:30AM
Opening Hours: 10:00PM – unknown (probably 4:00AM)
Lockout: We left at 2:30 and were advised of lockout. Safe to assume that lockout is at 02:00AM

Occurence: Once a month. Check facebook for details.
Address: 41 Oxford St, Sydney
Dress Code / Door Policy: Standard collared shirt for guys, though it is ok to wear shirts. Stated that no hats were allowed to be worn, but I did see people wearing hats tonight.
Entry Fee / Cover Charge: Free before 11pm if on guestlist. $10 before midnight. $20 Otherwise.
Guestlist: I found the facebook event and added myself to the Facebook guestlist.
Inside: This reminds me of a similar layout to The Bank at Kings Cross. Walk into an open floor to hold about two hundred people. The floor includes an elevated dance platform in which the tiles light up and change colours. Bar to the left. DJ in the far right corner. Overhanging the bar is a balcony for private functions and what not, to hold about 60 people.
Cloak Room: Cloak room available but was not utilised tonight.
Bar: Did not use the bar tonight.
DJs: DJ Slim, Edo, Bonniez
Music: RnB, Korean Pop.
Crowd: A rare night where everybody is Asian. Dominantly Korean. A mix of locals and international students.
Entertainment: Runway modelling show, and a dance off on the elevated podium area. MC Jayddup to keep things going.
Atmosphere: Initially on entering there wasn’t anyone dancing on the podium. Around midnight it picked up quick and stayed pretty busy the rest of the night. It got very packed at around 1-1:30AM. Dark atmosphere adds to the mood and the crowd was pertty into most of the songs. It was pretty good.

Asian Night at Havana - Thursday 1st April 2010
Good Friday is on tomorrow and all the clubs in Sydney are closed that day, so they are open Thursday night in lieu… Just left Space with Daz, to meet up with M and some other female friends, so here we go!
Candy Dreams Lingerie Party @ Havana Club de Luxe
Assessment Time: Midnight – 02:30am
Opening Hours: 10:30pm – 03:00am

Dress Code / Door Policy: Casual ok. I had dress shoes, a vest and collared shirt on. Others wore t-shirts and some girls wore corsets tonight.
Entry Fee / Cover Charge: $25. $20 on guestlist before midnight. I employed use of my free pass from the last week I visited Havana.
Guestlist: See promoter website
Inside: Walk upstairs two flights of stairs to the top level of the building, where Havana is. Main dancefloor for 250 or so people, with 3 bars on 3 sides, and DJ on the 4th wall. Lounges and carpeted areas surround the dancefloor.
Cloak Room:$4
Bar: Didn’t drink tonight
Music: RnB with the occasional House mashup
Crowd: Mostly asian with a mix of the others such as euro, aussie. Mostly local.
Entertainment: Podiums in the middle in front of the DJ and next to him. Dancing poles are not installed tonight.
Atmosphere: It was a Thursday, so it wasn’t as packed as a typical Friday night, nethertheless it was still busy enough to keep it away from the status of ‘dead’. Later around 2am it did die down considerably.

3am in Havana Asian RnB night.
A new promoter has taken over Havana for two weeks only. Last week was packed out, and tonight was week two. I somehow got stuck at Haymarket Hotel, but eventually worked my way to Havana, albeit late at 2:30am, so here we go!
Katsuyaku Girls @ Havana Club de Luxe
Assessment Time: 2:30am – 4:00am

Dress Code / Door Policy: Casual ok. I was wearing a top hat, collared shirt, jeans and dress shoes, which had no complaints upon entry. Entry Fee / Cover Charge: $25 full price after midnight. They’ve upped it and it hurts my wallet.
Guestlist: Check facebook page.
Inside: One main danceflor for about 200 or so people. Both sides are lounge and booth areas. DJ at the front, and a bar on each other side – Enough to keep one happy
Cloak Room: $4 Bar: Didn’t drink tonight Music: At point of arrival (2.30am) it was some rnb, hip hop and house all mixed up.
Crowd: Asian with a few euros and islanders as well. It’s a little mixed.
Entertainment: Two dancing poles. Earlier in the night the Katsujuku girls were dancing the poles to the amazement of the crowd. There is also an MC tonight to keep the night going.
Atmosphere: Enough people and barely enough women to keep wanting to dance. I was surprised at the number of people left at this time.

Tonight I’m here for a birthday. Birthday girl has chosen Boutique, which this year renamed itself to E11even due to a nightclub in Melbourne also being called Boutique. (Might check it out next time I’m there). Regardless, Here we go!
Saturdays @ Eleven (E11even – Formerly Boutique/Goodbar)

Dress Code: Casual ok. I wore my pirate outfit. Instead of outright rejecting us, the bouncer had the courtesy to ask the head promoter/manager to see if we were allowed in. Of course, we were on our best behaviour and we were allowed in. Now that’s good service!
Entry Fee / Cover Charge: $10 I think on guestlist.
Guestlist: The birthday girl sorted it out for us, but I assume contact details are on the website.
Inside: The club website claims two levels, but tonight only one level was open. A medium sized dancefloor with a big bar in the middle, occupying about 30-40% of the entirefloor space. DJ at the front, lounges dotted around the sides. Dancing really only happens at the front, where you could hold maybe 30-50 people.
Cloak Room: None
Bar: Did not wait long for service. 1-2 mins, or the bar may be empty if you’re lucky.
Music: RnB and House. Typical commercial stuff you hear anywhere else on radio and from the Ministry of Sound CDs
Crowd: Mostly Euro crowd. The place was busy but at the same time the place was a bit small, so you only needed less people to fill it up.
Entertainment: No extra entertainment tonight.
Atmosphere: Not so good. I wasn’t feeling the vibe. There weren’t that many people, but it wasn’t completely dead. Having this place on the far end of oxford st, where no strangers would walk in did not help. However it didn’t have drunk crazy violent people in here at least. On a special night it could have potential.

A lot of the guys like my hat, and they take turns wearing it. I have to keep my eye out on the hat but they are nice enough to give it back. there was this one guy though who just had to always grab my hat whenever we were in proximity. Funny… not really.

Girls who dance with us have boyfriends – what a waste of time
We start to dance with two girls, but after about 30 minutes we have progressed nowhere. Why. M is talking freely with his dance partner, and my dance partner.. well.. it is as though she has no vocal chords. She is not talking to me at all, but dancing and smiling. I may as well be talking with a freaking wall. One word answers, not interested in me.. why still dance. I just leave and dance with a fat chick instead… at least they have fun at clubs.

Yes of course, later M tells me that he found out they both had boyfriends. Thank god we did not buy them drinks.

We had to leave to attend to another party at Arthouse. Left around 1:00am
Recommendation
If you are having a large ass party with a hundred or so people, have it here, but on general nights, don’t come here, even if they have friendly staff.
Saturdays @ E11even – In consideration of its small sized dance floor- 4.5/10. Otherwise its just a nice place for a sit down drink and small boogie.
