My Top 10 Sydney Clubbing Spots

I really hate top 10 lists but if you only visit one club every week, its time to try something new! I base these more on atmosphere, music, vibe, rather than how many chicks did I pick up. I would recommend bars, such as Argyle, instead of clubs if you are in the scene of meeting rather than dancing. Do keep in mind since lockout laws were introduced, Kings Cross venues have suffered significantly in terms of patronage.

In no order:

  • $$$$ Marquee Nightclub | OPM Friday Night, Saturday House Night
    • Sae up your money for this as drinks are expensive and entry fees are approx $30-$40 depending on the night. Amazing atmosphere for pure clubbing. Suit up or risk not getting in.
  • $$$$ Ivy Nightclub
    • Free entry if you get in early on Thursday – backpacker night, Friday is after work drinks night, and entry is enforced after 9:30PM ($25??)
    • Pacha Saturdays is the big party night, and tickets are at least $40 at the door. It’s the biggest night in town and despite the price the place still gets packed. Casual dress.
  • $$$ The Club on Fridays or Saturdays
    • It’s actually called “The Club” for lack of a better name. Widespread dancing areas, dancing poles, separated long bar area and slick classic RnB tunes on Friday. Love it. Caucasian crowd. Always busy and can get quite hot, located at the Cross beneath. Dress well.
  • $$ Thursday nights @ Hot Damn!
    • Classics, rock, dance, rnb, everything! Over three rooms with drink specials to boot. Amazing vibe for everyone, and no pretentiousness. Been a few times. Dress casual only. This is a must go.
  • $$$ Saturdays @ The Red Room / Hotel Chambers
    • I like my old school RnB and this place has been playing it out for years now. Older crowd but also a friendly vibe. It’s a small venue so expect to line up. Been a few times but never have written a review.
  • Goodgod Smallclub on weekends.
    • This must be the smallest nightclub room I’ve been to. The main area is free entry and they usually play some kind of retro music, but the smaller room is where you want to be!  At the back is a separate entry, and the intimacy and darkness gives a nice feel to it all. It’s a secret that only locals know of. Been a few times as well, its such good value. Check the website as every week its a different theme of music. Casual dress.
  • $$ Candy’s Apartment // Thurdays – Saturdays
    • I like my dirty filthy beats. Candy’s gives me that. It’s just the wooden dancefloor, drinks and the music. Casual dress.
  • $$$ Starfvckers / Starfuckers
    • Really hot dirty vibe, if you like heavy tunes – You’ll need to prepare to get really sweaty. Small venue considering entry cost. They have since moved to Kings Cross
  • Scubar (Mondays)
    • Get here on a Monday and you will find a snaking line outside the door. Top 40 pop songs, free entry, cheap drinks, backpackers galore and a really tiny dancefloor.
  • $$$ Home Nightclub
    • Friday is Trance EDM night. This club is huge with 6 rooms or something. Saturday is the big night. Not sure how it rates these days as its been a while.
