A friend has invited me 3 weeks in advance to go here. The selling point – 16 hot asian girls will be appearing for the modelling competition. Tempting. Same guys who did the old Havana events before it closed. I was free, alright, so here we go!

2010 Miss Phoenix (TV) Cosmos Asia Pacific Dance Party @ Haymarket Hotel
Assessment Time: 9:15PM – 12:30AM
Opening Hours: 9:00PM – 2:00AM
Lockout: None, or when venue reache capacity until further notice.
Address: 661-663 George St
Promoter Video: This video was made after the event http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=1289098562151
Occurence: This appeared to be a once off event, but the finals will be held, probably here again in a few weeks time in September.
Dress Code / Door Policy: Smart Casual, but casual was accepted tonight. I was specifically told by my friend to dress very formal in order to fit into the VIP area.
Entry Fee / Cover Charge: $25 presold, and $30 at the door. Most people I saw had bought presold tickets.
Guestlist: No guestlist as far as I was aware. However when I was getting in, I saw a chinese dude pleading with the bouncer that he was “VIP” and that his name was on the guestlist. Well, here was some news – everybody was a “VIP” with their ticket, and well.. there was no guestlist, haha. He had to line up just like the rest of us.
Inside: All three levels are on tonight. DJ on the top overhead VIP area, ground level is the main drinking area, and also the dancing place – a small kind of enclosed area to hold about 50-80 people. Downstairs is another bar, and lounge area where it is all carpeted.
Bar Prices: I didn’t drink tonight.
Music Style: RnB, Pop.
Crowd: Entirely asian. I spotted 2 or 3 white people upstairs in the VIP area, but that was about it.
Entertainment: Some dancers before the main show, and of course, there was the main show of the 16 or so girls smiling at us.
Atmosphere: Split over three levels, at around 10pm, everyone decked out the ground level to catch a glimpse of the girls. This left nobody downstairs for the entire night, as everyone stayed on ground level. So you could say it was packed. However before the show started it was dead, everyone waiting. After the show, it was a good 15 minutes before people started to drink and dance. By then it was around 11:30ish, proper clubbing time. During normal clubbing hours it was good, people were dancing about and the place was closed off many times to outsiders. More on on this population problem later.

A friend invited me to a little uni end of semester party – with a Pajama theme – sounded great! So I dressed up as a sailor.

U n’ I Pajama Party @ Docks Hotel
Assessment Time: 10:30pm – 2.30am
Entry Fee/ Cover Charge: $25 prepaid, $30/$35 at the door. Alternatively you could have come to Docks Hotel before 9.30 for drinks without paying entry and hung around for dance later.
Occurrence: Once off. It was U n’ I’s (the organisers) first event.
Crowd: Dominantly Asian, and almost entirely of uni students.
Music: RNB, House. The typical Sydney RNB DJ’s attended tonight. Sefu.. and Ace and some other ones for the main area. In the side room/area there was also RNB, but the DJ here also mixed it up with some House music. The King of Pop died earlier today, so there was also a 4  song Michael Jackson tribute in the middle and at the end of the night, which was nice of the DJs. A bit of Jackson 5, and then some MJ songs.
Atmosphere: Pretty good. Crowded as people were let in. Most stayed until 1.30.
Entertainment: Dance off, and an all girls pillow fight. Videos of the pillow fight later

I was in India and my local friend Viddy takes us to Capitol, where he can get us free entry.. A quick web search reveals Capitol to be often rated as the best nightclub in Delhi. It’s also Viddy’s bachelor’s party.

About Capitol Nightclub

Location: 50-B Chanakyapuri, Diplomatic Enclave , The Ashok Hotel, New Delhi, India
Website
: http://www.theashok.com
Occurence: Every night.
Inside: On entry to the danceroom, there is a two-tiered dancefloor. It’s of reasonable size, with bars and lounges on the sides. The upper tier is the VIP area which could hold about 100 people easily, and overlooks the main dance floor, which could hold 200 or so people. Outside the room, there is a canteen area where various Indian dishes are ready for your eatage.
Dress Code: Casual. No cameras were allowed inside as part of security screening, but inside people had managed to sneak in cameras and take photos in the VIP area.
Entry Fee: Reportedly 1200 Indian rupees, but I don’t know. It’s been set at a price to keep out the beggars and tight asses.
Music: Bollywood, House.
Crowd: Young and presumably of the rich / high class in India. Fair ratio of men to women. Mostly locals.

Timeline
What line.. what thongs?
I see the same bouncer that Viddy used at his house party. He’s fending off a swarm of people trying to get in. There is no sense trying to ask the locals to line up for anything in India.  Viddy’s wearing thongs and is refused entry. After a few minutes arguing, Viddy tells the bouncer to take off his shoes and to wear his thongs. He complies and Viddy gets in, as well as the rest of us straight in. Vid has the hook ups for sure.

Together @ Arthouse

On November 1, 2008, in Arthouse Hotel, Breaks, House, by J T

Followed T and her girlfriend to Arthouse to meet up with more friends. Entered around 2am.

About Arthouse
Location: Pitt St opposite Hungry Jacks/ Pure Platinum
Inside: Main room with main DJs, and a secondary room of similar size but darker atmosphere  playing breaks.

About Together
Music: House
Crowd: Caucasian, Pretty.
Dress Code: Casual
Cover Charge / Entry Fee: Gia mentioned she paid $30 before midnight. We paid $25 at 2am. $20 prepaid on the Paul Strange presents website
Occurrence: Weekly Saturdays
Website: http://www.paulstrangepresents.com/
Atmosphere: (2am) Pretty much a dancing mood in main room, but it was not too packed. Most people were outside in the back having a chit chat. Secondary room was pretty dead at this time.

Timeline

Lining up troubles
That’s us in the guestlist line. We were told to line up here. Then we were told to line up in the other line, as we were not on the guestlist. After about 30 minutes we got to the front, and we were told we didn’t have pink armwrists, so we had to line up back on the guestlist line!!! What a JOKE.

After lining up again in the guestlist line, the guy recognized us and apologises, then lets us in.

More Kissing
We met T and her ex’s Brazilian friends, and they were friendly. Half the time was spent playing tonsil hockey with T, while the others cheer and whistle on loudly as we pash. (I’m still shaking my head as I write this.) I secretly wanted Gia, but she had already found a pashing partner. By this time my hormones have overriden any sense of logical rationing. My heart says no, but the prostate says yes.

Music
Brilliant, I had no complaints. House was done very well

Coda
Leave around 5am, very very tired… I didn’t really get a chance to criticize this place, though I would advise on getting prepaid tickets.
