Long weekend, and I’ve been asked by friends to recommend another place to visit tonight, after they loved Bounce @ Slide Bar the week prior. Took a stab in the dark and went for Home Bar, where a once-off RnB event is being held and looked promising. There weren’t really other rnb options for me to pick from. Untested but determined, the guestlist was sorted out and so here we go!

RnB Supaparty @ Home Nightclub
Assessment Time: 10:40PM – 04:00AM
Opening Hours: Unknown (Probably 10:00PM) – Unknown (We left at 4:00AM but it probably would have finished at around 4:30AM as by this time all other rooms had closed)
Lockout: Unknown
Address: Tenancy 101, Cockle Bay Wharf, Darling harbour Sydney (Next to IMAX Theatre)
Venue Website: http://www.homesydney.com.au
Promoter Website: http://www.promotersinc.com
Occurrence: This appeared to be a once off event for the long weekend.
Dress Code / Door Policy: Casual allowed. Most guys here were indeed wearing casual t-shirts, runners etc. Most girls were wearing dresses. Hats were allowed tonight.
Entry Fee / Cover Charge: I was told it was free entry before 10:30 but upon arrival it was surprisingly free entry 11:00PM if you were on the guestlist. It’s extremely rare to see an 11:00PM cut off for free entry guestlisting at the RnB events. Before midnight it was $20 on the guestlist, and otherwise the full $25 would need to be paid.
Guestlist: These were sent to party@promotersinc.com
Inside: Initially just the main RnB room was open. Walk into the floor to hold 600-900 people. After midnight the rest of the rooms upon up. Upstairs is an overhanging balcony with a second bar. The second RnB smaller room to hold 20-30 people. Walk through the maze to get to the lounge room where old school is being played. Backup to the stairs and on the left is the sublime room where house and trance is being played. The room holds 50-80 people. Further to the top level are two rooms, one playing latin based house and the final and 6th room by the bar plays music ( i can’t remember the style). There is a further smoking area on the top level overlooking the harbour. It’s all open access tonight.
Cloak Room: Located at the very rear behind the seating area. It is no longer by the main floor bar. $5 for all items.
Bar Prices / Line: The wait was not long – 2-3 minutes maximum, and most of the time you could get a bartender right away. $13 for a can of Smirnoff black which is pretty much the biggest rip off since Brooklyn Hotel did $17 Redbull Vodkas last year. It’s even more expensive than festival prices!!
DJs: Unknown.
Music Style: RnB in the main room. Other rooms had house, trance, old school rnb/hip hop, and Latin House.
Crowd: Mixed crowd of all nationalities and all ages. You couldn’t really pin it down to a majority. Asians could only be found in the main room while in other rooms it was dominantly Caucasians.
Entertainment: MC in the main room to keep things going. Girls were allowed up on the front stage to dance, while guys who attempted to jump onto the front are promptly kicked off. No fair!!
Atmosphere: When I turned up outside that there was no line whatsoever. I am extremely worried about how many people are inside. I visualise a totally dead home bar, but luckily it wasn’t. The main floor and other rooms never got completely packed, but I would say 60-80% capacity. You could move around if you wanted without having to interrupt too many people. It wasn’t dead, but it was good enough to have the party vibe sustained throughout the night. Out of the 5 other rooms, 2 of them were pretty much completely dead with about two or three people, 2 other rooms had 5-10 persons, while the Latin House room had about 20-25 people in it, which was half capacity.
